Gestalt therapy

An approach that works from the here and now to help you become more aware of what you feel, how you block yourself and what you need in order to respond with more presence.

  • Puts attention on present experience, not only explanation.
  • Supports awareness, responsibility and contact with yourself.
  • Can help a great deal when there is disconnection, blocking or automatic functioning.

Introduction

Becoming aware of how you are living what is happening now

Gestalt therapy works a great deal with present experience: what you feel, what you do, what you avoid, what you express and what remains unfinished in the way you relate to yourself or others.

It does not seek only to analyse, but to help you notice how you are relating to what you live so that a more conscious response can emerge.

It is especially useful when there is disconnection, emotional confusion or a sense of living on autopilot.

It may be useful when

It often contributes a lot when there is a need to return to the present, recover inner contact and move away from overly automatic responses.

  • Emotional blocks or difficulty feeling clearly.
  • Repetitive patterns that you keep sustaining without noticing.
  • Relationships in which you adapt too much or disappear.
  • A need to work with more presence, body awareness and consciousness.

What can be worked on

Aspects where this therapy is often especially alive and useful

Within the process it can help you move from abstract explanation to a clearer and more transformative experience of what is taking place.

Present-moment awareness

Observing what is happening in you here and now when you speak about something important, instead of staying only in the mental story.

Expression and contact

Recognising emotions, needs or impulses that you usually cut off, minimise or leave out of the relationship with yourself and with others.

Personal responsibility

Differentiating what depends on you, what you keep repeating and which part of choice you can begin to recover.

Closing unfinished situations

Making room for situations, bonds or emotions that remain open and continue to take up energy in the present.

Contact

Sometimes change begins by being more present in what is already happening

If you feel you need work that is more conscious, experiential and connected to your real experience, we can look at it together.
