Bioneuroemotion® online and in person

Do you know what is happening to you, but still cannot change it? Sometimes understanding something rationally is not enough to transform the way we feel, interpret and react.

  • Javi Mateo integrates this approach as a complementary tool.
  • Online or in-person sessions in Altea, in Spanish or English.
  • A space to explore emotions, beliefs, family history and repetitive patterns starting from what is happening now.

Introduction

Do you know what is happening to you, but still cannot change it?

Perhaps you understand perfectly well what your problem is. You recognise your fears, know that certain experiences have shaped you, or can clearly see the pattern that keeps repeating itself.

And yet you keep feeling, thinking or reacting in the same way.

I am Javi Mateo, a psychologist with postgraduate training in Bioneuroemotion®. In my work I integrate elements of this approach as a complementary tool to explore the emotions, beliefs and patterns that may be influencing what you are living through.

We can begin directly from what is worrying you today or from what you want to change. You do not need to have all the answers or know how to explain everything perfectly.

Sessions may take place online or in person in Altea, in Spanish or English.

What it is

What is Bioneuroemotion®?

Bioneuroemotion® is a method of self-knowledge that seeks to understand how our emotions, beliefs and experiences may influence the way we interpret and live certain situations.

Its purpose is to broaden awareness around what generates stress, distress or blockage, so we can observe what lies behind what worries you or keeps repeating in your life.

In my work as a psychologist I integrate elements of this approach as a complementary tool, always starting from the specific situation you are living right now and without replacing the psychological basis of the process.

What this approach can bring into the process

This is not about placing a new label on what is happening to you, but about helping you better understand the conflict, the emotion and the way you are living it so other ways of responding can begin to open up.

  • Shift your perception of conflicts that are currently generating stress or blockage.
  • Better understand the impact emotions have on your wellbeing and on the way you react.
  • Develop greater self-awareness and stronger emotional regulation resources.
  • Explore whether family history or inherited patterns may still be influencing what you are living today.

How we can work together

Situations from which this work often begins

Each person arrives with a different story, yet many come with a very similar feeling: “I know something is not working in my life, but I cannot change it.”

When anxiety does not let you stop

We look at what happens when it appears: what situation you are facing, what you fear, what you try to control and which emotions or beliefs are being activated.

When you have lost motivation or meaning

Instead of forcing positivity, we explore what you are really living through, what has been lost, what you need and how you are interpreting what happened.

When your relationships always end in the same place

We look at relational patterns, emotional needs and beliefs about love in order to understand what is being activated inside you and decide more consciously from there.

When you feel “I know this harms me, but I cannot stop”

We explore what happens before, during and after that behaviour so we can understand the emotional function it is serving and what truly needs to be addressed.

When a loss does not let you move forward

We can explore what really hurts, what was left unresolved and which emotions are still present so the experience can be integrated without denying what mattered.

When you understand your problem perfectly, but still do the same thing

We work with real situations: what happened, what you thought, what you felt, how you interpreted it and what you did afterwards, in order to begin questioning that automatic response.

How the work unfolds

A four-step process of inquiry

Each process is different, but there is often a similar sequence: identifying the conflict, understanding it, learning from it and beginning to apply resources in a more conscious way.

1. Analysis

We identify a situation of stress, interpersonal conflict or physical and emotional blockage that is affecting you right now.

2. Understanding

We explore the emotional origin of the conflict, the beliefs linked to it and the pattern from which it is being lived.

3. Learning

We aim to recover a more conscious, less automatic and more proactive role in relation to what is happening to you.

4. Application

We translate that insight into resources and new ways of looking at the situation in order to expand perception, wellbeing and your capacity to respond.

Starting point

We start from what is happening to you today

From the first session onward we work with the concrete problem you bring. You do not need to prepare a perfect story or arrive with a complete explanation in advance.

The initial question can be very simple: “What is happening in your life right now that you would like to change?”

From there we explore which emotion the situation awakens, what it means to you, which beliefs appear and which patterns may be repeating.

Sometimes the process begins with “How can I make this stop happening to me?” and, later on, another question can emerge: “What can I understand about myself through what is happening to me?”.

Important clarification

This approach does not replace any necessary healthcare support

Bioneuroemotion® is an approach to support and self-knowledge and does not replace psychological, psychiatric or medical care when this is necessary.

In cases involving anxiety or depressive disorders, addictions, risk of self-harm, suicidal thoughts or other significant mental health concerns, it is essential to rely on qualified healthcare professionals.

If you are already following medical or pharmacological treatment, this should not be changed or stopped as a consequence of beginning this process. When appropriate, this work may be used as a complement, not as a substitute, for the healthcare support you need.
